Also accessible from our doorstep via the Dyfnant Forest, the Glyndwr's Way National Trail runs from Knighton to Welshpool via Machynlleth, named after Owain Glyndŵr’, Prince of Wales and Medieval Welsh nationalist leader who organised a rebellion against the English king, Henry IV in 1400.
The Glyndwr Way is another lovely National Trail with a varied route through the open moorland, rolling farmland, woodland and forest of mid-Wales. The Trail starts at Knighton and ends at Welshpool. At the Welshpool end the trail starts close to the Raven Inn and the Light Railway Station at Welshpool Ravel Square but soon leaves the town behind as you walk through the rather grand parkland of Llanerchydol Hall. We like this walk so much we arranged a charity walk for Hector's Greyhound Rescue along the stretch closest to Welshpool. And of course stopped at the Raven Inn afterwards for refreshments. Near Llanidloes the trail passes through the Bryntail Lead Mine and close to the Llyn Clwydog Dam (see separate entries)
