Makara is a well designed set of mountain bike trails across the rugged coastal hills west of the city. Not to be missed if mountain biking is your thing.

Some fantastic mountain biking, amongst beautiful NZ bush. Rewarding views at the top and some cool birds from Zealandia nearby.

This is set in 250 hectares of bird filled native bush. Whether you are a walker, runner or mountain biker there is a track at Makara peak for you. You can hire any type of bikes from Mud Cycles. Mud Cycles store access is pathway behind Karori Park Store. On Tuesday and Thursday they organize night bike ride rides to the mountain!
