It is a unique encounter with nature! Hot springs flowing into the Gardner River. Take a swimming suit and towel!

Epic natural hot springs experience while visiting Montana. Soak in the springs that dump into the Gardiner River in Yellowstone National Park. Short hike from parking lot to river. Just 1 1/2 hrs from cabin. (Can be crowded)

The Boiling River flows into the Gardner River near Mammoth Hot Springs. From a parking lot along the road between the North Entrance and Mammoth Hot Springs, a half-mile walk along the Gardner River leads to a designated soaking/swimming area where the waters from these two rivers mix. The only facility is a vault toilet at the parking lot. Use caution: the current in the Gardner River can be swift and the footing slippery and dangerous.

When this is open to the public it is an exceptional place to soak. Sometimes the bison are down by the river. It is about a 1 mile walk on trail to the spot you get in the river so bring a towel or robe for the trip back to the car. You will also want a good pair of water shoes.
