Watching the glass blowing demonstration is amazing! A must see when visiting the Cape. All the items in the exhibit are great.
The Sandwich Historical Society and its Glass Museum collects, preserves, and interprets the history of the Town of Sandwich, MA, the oldest town on Cape Cod. A large part of Sandwich history is involved with American glass production. The Sandwich Glass Museum has “Relit the Fires in Sandwich” with a glass furnace and new exhibits to better tell the story of the glass industry in Sandwich. While we will not be able to completely recreate that booming, smoking glass factory, our visitors are able to feel the heat from the glory hole on their faces. featuring a wide range of rare glass, including glass from the local Boston & Sandwich Glass Factory which was founded in Sandwich by Deming Jarves in 1825. The museum also has a live glass blower, and exhibits detailing the creation and coloring of various types of rare glass. Gift shop at end of tour.
