If you enjoy cycling then the The Old Rail Trail Greenway is for you!! Hop on your bike from the starting point at the Old Rail Trail Carpark in Mullingar and keep going to the town of Athlone (or for as far as you want!). Bicycles can be hired from www.mullingarbikehire.com if you don't have your own set of wheels. The route which is 42km long in total is almost entirely flat and winds its way through the beautiful Westmeath Countryside. Why not take a picnic and stop off along what way? We've done part of this route a number of times and always enjoy it..
