Historic Hope in Windsor, NC and is a good example of 1803 Federal and Georgian architecture. It is about 15 miles away.

Somerset is a larger site and long outing. If you're staying more than a couple of days and want a shorter outing, Hope Plantation is a lovely stop. Not much else in Windsor.

About 45 minutes away. They offer guided tours of Hope Mansion, King-Bazemore House, and gardens. You can visit the Heritage Center Museum and take self-guided tours of the gardens and grounds free of charge.

Renovated 18th c plantation once owned by NC governor Stone. Return via WiIliamston's Sunnyside oyster bar for old school steamed oysters & steamed shrimp with a cold one on the way back.
