Well worth a visit, the caves are spectacular, a beautiful preserved bit of history, it appears that shows are displayed here and it would be amazing to see one

Stand on top of the Rock of Gibraltar and feel on top of the world; Europe below. Africa on one side and the gates to the Med and the Atlantic on the other. Experience truly breathtaking views. From a height of 426m you will see the African coastline, where the waters of the Atlantic meet the Mediterranean, Spain’s Costa and a panoramic view of the City far below, the quays, marinas and bays. Stroll the quiet path to St Michael’s Cave and you will be alone with nature. No unauthorised private vehicles are permitted in the nature reserve, however a number of walking, taxi or bus tours are available.

Enter the upper rock and you have access to O'Haras battery, the famous Barbary apes, St Michael's caves, the siege tunnels, the top of the rock, Princess Carolines battery, Moorish castle and Windsor bridge. Pay an entrance fee on the way into the reserve at Jew's Gate and it gets you into all the attractions. Cars are not allowed all the way up the rock so you will have to park up and walk to the top. If you don't fancy the walk then an alternative is to take a taxi tour. For any guests who want to experience the macaques, the contact is Brian Gomilla and his business is called Monkey Talk. Here is a website and he can also be found on Facebook. You should go! :) www.visitgibraltar.gi

There are more than 150 caves found in the Rock of Gibraltar, but only one gets to take home the ‘most-visited’ prize. St. Michael’s Cave gets that honour, in no small part because of its awe-inspiring collection of stalactites and stalagmites. All of the formations are lit up in a variety of vibrant colours in order to accentuate the majesty of it all, creating magnificent photo opportunities for more than a million visitors every year. The cave was initially supposed to be an emergency hospital during World War II but never functioned as one, instead developing naturally into the wonder we see today. The splendid acoustics aren’t wasted either, with the occasional concert or gig held in this stunning spot.
