At Altamont you can take a lovely stroll around the gardens taking in the pond, more than a few flowers and, if you're lucky, catch a glimpse of the peacocks wandering around. Finish off the walk with a nice cup of tea and a bite to eat at the end.

Majestic gardens & pond. Beautiful for a day trip & bring a picnic! 37 minutes drive from cottage.

We highly recommend Altamont Gardens as a way to spend a few hours wandering through beautiful formal gardens and wild woods leading down to the river and up 100 stone steps set in the hill or take the winding easy route back up. Take a picnic, there is a Supervalu on the hill out of Bunclody where we get filled rolls and cake. Altamont is free with only a carpark charge of €2. Entrance to the gardens is on the right of the main house driving in.
