National Trust owned Cave Dale has stunning rugged scenery. Excellent for hill walking and intrepid mountain bikers. Peveril Castle towers above the valley (please note the castle cannot be reached from the Cave Dale footpath). Sheep are grazed around the year and so it's advised dogs please remain on leads. The footpath to the valley entrance is located opposite the sign for Pindale Road, just off Castleton village market place.

This is a spectacular valley, which can be seen from Castle Hill. It can be entered by walking between two cottages in Bar Gate above the Market Place where a signpost shows the beginning of the Limestone Way to Matlock.
