Kariakoo is Dar es Salaam's biggest and busiest market, and a major contribution to the city's economy (a bit like New York but on steroids, and with shorter buildings, and more stalls). Sprawling over a considerable area, it's hard to believe that this historic center was once a small village. From fresh produce to auto parts, you can find anything in Kariakoo, just keep sharp as you move about.
